The transition from HTB CBBH to HTB CWES has officially started.

🔄 What’s Changing

The HTB CBBH certification will officially become the HTB Certified Web Exploitation Specialist (HTB CWES), starting October 1, 2025.

The transition to the new HTB Certified Web Exploitation Specialist (CWES) certification has officially begun.

While "bug hunting" captures the thrill, most real-world job roles are defined as Web Penetration Testers or AppSec Engineers. By making this shift, we’re ensuring your hard work translates directly into credentials and skills that employers instantly recognize, without losing the excitement and hands-on mindset that makes Hack The Box unique.

✅ What This Means for You

  • Automatic upgrade — your HTB CBBH will be converted to HTB CWES on HTB Academy, HTB Enterprise, and Credly, with no extra cost or exam required. This change will take place during the month of September 2025.
  • Your achievements remain valid and recognized; only the certification name changes.
  • You’ll get FREE access to the modules added to the new Web Penetration Tester job-role path by Oct 1, 2025.

As part of this transition, the following processes are now underway:

  • All current HTB CBBH exam candidates will receive the HTB CWES certification upon successfully completing the exam.
  • The migration of existing HTB CBBH certifications to HTB CWES has started.
  • The migration of existing HTB CBBH Credly badges to the new HTB CWES badge is now in progress.
