Introduction to Network Log Analysis
Network devices are the components that make up the concept of the internet and its infrastructure. The internet would not exist without network devices. We use these devices in different roles and categories every day. In the past, network communications reached their destinations by passing through devices such as hubs, switches, and routers. Today, however, many other devices with different capabilities (such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, proxies, and WAFs) have come into play.
This module will cover the analysis of logs from important network devices and services. These logs contain network communication traces.
Upon completion of the module, you will be equipped with the expertise to meticulously analyze the logs of pivotal network equipment, a skill set indispensable to a Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst. The logs shared during the module are provided as examples. The logs of each device, product, and application are unique and may differ from the examples covered in the module. The important thing here is to understand the subject's essence.
